Michiyo Ihara was born and grew up in Osaka, Japan. Since she was a child, art has always been part of her life and it rapidly became her own way to escape from a uniformed and contained society.
She came to New York 19 years ago and feels it is her home now. She has been working on snowflake series for the past few years, using pencil on paper. She chose snowflakes as a medium to express the infinite possibilities of the universe. Snowflakes and human beings are all different and unique – with endless possible combinations. Combining snowflakes with her unique creative process is a springboard for even more possibilities.
