"I strive to follow a certain historical lineage in my work, always ignoring the desires to capture opinion for creating something entirely unexplored. I choose, rather, to respond to unanswered questions relevant painters have left untouched in their own work. Painting is an old form of expression but hardly an antiquated discipline. Studying this history, parallel to my efforts in being honest with my personality and timeline, allows me to reach others while satisfying my own individual needs. This practice is central to creating paintings that are engaging yet remain quietly personal."
