Bruce Frankel
Kristiana Pärn
Barbara Rae Schaefer
Joe Tonetti

For the last 40 years, Bruce Frankel has routinely worked with the photographic image- 16mm and Super 8mm film, stills, and professionally as a reporter for TF1-French TV1. Acclaimed in France for his work as a journalist, his still photography has belatedly been recognized with his inclusion in the special edition 100 of the prestigious British literary revue, GRANTA (William Boyd, editor). Arriving in NYC in 1974, Bruce became involved with the downtown experimental film scene, initially using photography as a 'drawing board' for film, and a means to understand the nature of light and color. He has continued working with both motion and still. Since 1990, Frankel has been based in Hong Kong, Jerusalem, and Washington, all serving as sources for the photographic muse. Currently, he resides in Brooklyn. The monochrome silver prints on display have all been hand printed by Frankel, and he continues to work with film. |
